Product Overview The 8-Port Serial Expander is a network device designed to extend the number of serial communication interfaces (typically RS-232 or RS-485) available to a computer or host controller. It virtually expands one upstream physical serial port (or one network interface) into eight independent, simultaneously operational downstream serial ports, effectively resolving the bottleneck of insufficient serial ports on the host device.
